Cierra Ramirez played the lead role in the coming-of age drama “Girl In Progress” opposite Eva Mendes as her mother. She played Ansiedad in the story about a neglected 13-year-old looking for a teen rite-of -passage as a way to change her life. The film, which also stared Patricia Arquette and Matthew Modine, was distributed by Lionsgate’s Latin Specialty Division Pantelion Films. Released: 5/11/12, “Girl In’ Progress” was a top 10 movie opening weekend and earned Cierra a 2012 ALMA Award for “Best Supporting Actress/Feature Film” as well as an Imagen Award in the same category. She was also honored by The National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts with a 2012 Horizon Award. Cierra is best known for her recurring role of Jasmine on The Disney Channels “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”. She played the lead role, Stella, in the Nickelodeon TV Movie “Star and Stella Save the World”. She has also appeared in such TV Series as Desperate Housewives, Zoey 101, and CSI: Miami. She made her feature film debut in “ALL IN” starring Dominique Swain and Michael Madsen. Cierra is currently a series regular on ABC Family’s Hit show “The Secret Life Of The American Teenager” playing the role of Kathy, a new freshman who enrolls at Grant High who is six months pregnant but plans to give the baby up for adoption. Cierra has also just recently signed on and filmed the pilot for ABC Family’s new one hour drama “The Fosters” playing the role of Mariana, an adopted twin out of the foster system. The show is produced by Jennifer Lopez and centers around a Multi-Ethnic family mix of both foster and biological children being raised by two moms. Besides a burgeoning acting career, Cierra is an accomplished singer. Since the age of 7, Cierra has been in front of crowds with her voice. At 10, she appeared as herself on the NBC series, “Showtime at the Apollo”. She has also shared the stage as an opening act for the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago and American Idols Ruben Studdard, Kimberly Caldwell and Ace Young. Cierra is now signed to Temper Music Group and is working on her debut album. Cierra who was born and raised in Houston, Texas, now divides her time between New York and Los Angeles.
